* Activity#6(Make a Picture Frame):

Simple Frame

1. Open Photoshop Elements from the the module desktop shortcuts

2. Choose start from Scratch -

3. Start a new document with these settings

4. Follow these next steps and save your file at the end!!!

 

Create Frame

  1. Select the Rectangle tool.
  2. Draw a big box in the middle of the canvas.
  3. Rename the layer "Frame".
  4. So you can work with the object you need to Simplify the layer. Do this by right clicking on the layer and select "Simplify layer".
  5. Select the Marquee tool-Rectangle, and select the "subtract from selection" button. You will subtract (delete) the inside to create a frame. Draw a slightly smaller box, inside of the 1st one you created. Press the "delete" key on the keyboard.
  6. Deselect your marching ants selection, by clicking "Select", "Deselect Layers".

You have now created your own frame.

 

Add a Style to the frame

1. Select your frame by clicking on it with the "Move tool".

2. Open the window for "Styles & Effects" by clicking the down arrow..

3. Make sure you select "Layer Styles" under the Styles and Effects window

4. Select any of the styles to apply to your frame.

5. You have now added a style to your own frame.

 

Add a Picture to the Frame.

  1. You will now add a picture behind the frame.
  2. Open the next picture to add to your file.
  3. Go to the All Module Folders / Digital Scrapbooking Folder / Tutorial & Activity Files Folder and Open "Activity 6 Frog " in PhotoShop Elements.
  4. Select All & copy this picture.
  5. In the photo bin at the bottom, click back to your main file.
  6. Paste the picture of the Frog.
  7. This will paste it in a new layer, on top of the background picture.
  8. Rename the new layer "Frog".
  9. Resize the new picture so that it is the same size as the frame.
    1. Do this manually by click & dragging the corner of the picture.
    2. Accept this change by clicking the check mark at the top in the property menu bar.
  10. Move the Frog layer under the Frame layer, by click & dragging the layers.

You have complete your frame activity.

It should look similar to this:

 

SAVING: Save your file as both ( .PSD ) and ( .JPG ) files

- - - - - Save this file in the #digital scrapbooking folder located inside your Module desktop shortcuts Folder (Ex. 14 DigitalScrapbooking)

- - - - - Use as a file name "(your TechLab number) Your LastName Activity 6 Frame" [example. 1945MaguireActivity 6 Frame]
