Ms. Donavon, Ms. Gaier, Mrs. TenHoven, & Mrs. Megerle, Sponsors
To become a member of the Barrington Middle School - Prairie Campus Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, students must exhibit the following qualities: scholarship, service, character, leadership and citizenship.
Scholarship: Students must have and maintain a grade point average of 3.700 for 3 of the 4 quarters of seventh grade(sixth grade grades do not count), or for 5 of the 6 quarters from the start of 7th grade through the second quarter of 8th grade. Students also cannot earn any grade below a "C".
Service: There is no greater life activity than giving of yourself and your time to the service of others. This is one of the most important life-long attitudes cultivated in NJHS.
Character: Character is based on soundness of moral judgment - integrity that comes from within. Students who would like to become members of NJHS should be models of the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Caring, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness and Citizenship.
Leadership: This characteristic should be displayed throughout the entire school year by participation in class activities, behavior in the hallways and lunchroom, and the willingness to take part in various school-sponsored activities.
Citizenship: Students joining NJHS are expected to be kind, courteous and respectful to all staff members and peers.
As sponsors for the BMS - Station Chapter of NJHS, we are confident that many seventh grade students at BMS - Station will become members of NJHS next year. Being a member of National Junior Honor Society is a truly wonderful and fun experience that will impact students the rest of their lives. Have a fantastic school year!
